Compass Support, the charitable subsidiary of The Pioneer Group, has launched a free drop-in “Independent Living Support” service at Falcon Lodge Community Hub, to provide guidance and support services to local adults.

Aimed at residents over the age of 18 living independently in Falcon Lodge, the service provides support to enable individuals and couples to remain living in their own homes. This includes guidance and support with managing their own household, developing relationships and improving health & wellbeing.

Support is provided for six months to allow time for service-users in vulnerable situations to build resilience and develop practical skills to cope with issues including wellness, debt and benefits.

Shamsa Mughal, Support Services Team Leader, said:

We are here to support the residents of Falcon Lodge. The Independent Living service has been established in Castle Vale for some time now and we’re pleased to offer this much-needed service to benefit the community of Falcon Lodge. Our knowledgeable team will work with individuals, or couples in person, to co-develop a goal-focussed action plan and empower them to create solutions for sustainable outcomes.

The service provides tailored one-to-one advice and guidance for any issues that may affect an individual’s daily life, including assistance with:

• Family/partner relationships
• Alcohol/drug dependency
• Building valuable links between yourself and other agencies
• Physical and/or mental health issues
• Referrals to debt/benefit advice services
• Getting help from other agencies and professionals
• Filling in forms
• Confidence building
• Introduction to social groups
• Reducing feelings of isolation
